We are pleased to invite you at the opening of the exhibition TOGETHER IN THE PARK – LET'S PAINT DREAM on 23 September, 12.00 am in the lobby of Sofia Municipality at No 33 Moscovska St.
The exhibition will feature works of the photographer Georgi Bozhkov as well as paintings made by young people with intellectual difficulties from Worlds Day Centre and Blagoveshtenie (Annunciation) Centre when they took part in a series of creative activities outdoor in the South Park of Sofia in the summer of 2015.
This year, our friend Georgi Bojkov dedicated his birthday to the Worlds Day Care Centre. The guests at the party donated the amount they had collected for a birthday present as a gesture of support to Maria's World Foundation.
The party took place at the Sheltered Café along with Georgi Bojkov's first photographic exhibition 'Together in the Park—Let Us Paint a Dream', which presents his experience of observing the encounter of the young people with intellectual difficulties with art. Thank you, Joro!
For a second year an Open Day was organised at Maria's World Foundation. We celebrated the second anniversary of the Centre and presented the achievements of the assisted employment project. Our guests met with the clients and their came to learn about their daily activities in the art ateliers and the products they make. The press conference was opened by Mrs Tsetska Radeva, Director of Maria's World Foundation.
We have the pleasure to invite you to an Open Doors Day at the Worlds Day Care Centre on 16 July 2015 from 10:00 until 14:00 h in 8 Riccardo Vaccarini Street, Gotse Delchev, Sofia. Maria's World Foundation is implementing the 'We are part of the community' project with financial assistance from the Metropolitan Municipality under the Europe 2015 Programme.
The project includes a number of activities intended to raise the visibility of people with intellectual difficulties in the community and improve their overall integration in society.
The event organised by the Ministry of Justice and the Bulgarian Non-Business Law Centre in partnership with Maria's World Foundation, the Bulgarian Association of Persons with Intellectual Difficulties and the Global Initiative in Psychiatry, was attended by Michael Bach from the Canadian Institute for Research and Development of Inclusion in Society, Hussein Ismail, Deputy Ombudsman of Bulgaria, Verginia Micheva-Ruseva, Deputy Minister of Justice, MPs, legal professionals and lawyers.
The Natural Persons and Assistance Measures Bill and the justification thereto is available on the website of the Ministry of Justice, Bills Section.
On 27 January 2015, at 17:30, at the French Cultural Institute in Sofia in 3 Slaveykov Boulevard the Worlds documentary will be shown before an audience for the first time by Maria's World Foundation.
The documentary of the Director Stoyan Radev was filmed in Geneva, Swiss Confederation, and Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2014.
It is dedicated to the life, support available for and integration of people with intellectual difficulties at the Public Integration Establishments in Geneva, Switzerland, building parallels to the practices at Maria's World Foundation in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Today, 13 November 2014 a discussion dedicated to 'The Possibilities for Employment and Education of People with Intellectual Difficulties' took place at our Day Care Centre. The most valuable aspect of the discussion was the opportunity the event presented for our clients to voice their opinion on the topic. They shared some of the professions they found most appealing (i.e. cleaning professionals, assistant retail consultants, assistant chefs, etc.) and defined the skills set required in order to be able to practise them in a real-life working environment. They also had an opportunity to share their knowledge and skills aspirations with the audience. One of the shared dreams of our clients and their parents is that a small store was available in Sofia where hand-crafted pieces from our and other day care centres can be sold.
The second annual Charity Ball organised by Maria's World Foundation, which took place on 30 October 2014 at the Auto Bavaria exhibition centre, raised more than BGN 35 000. This year, the clients of the WORLDS Day Care Centre for people with intellectual difficulties participated in the preparation and running of the event by meeting guests, helping with seating arrangements and the sale of raffle tickets.
They thus demonstrated the skills acquired at the Day Care Centre and had an opportunity to invite guests to visit the recently opened sheltered café at the centre — the fund raising cause to which the first annual charity ball was dedicated.
On 23 October the second annual Open Doors Day took place at the Worlds Day Care Centre with financial support from the Metropolitan Municipality under the Europe Programme. We dedicated the day to our clients' parents and close relatives and friends. The event was an opportunity for them to get to know each other, talk to their children and have fun in a tranquil and sheltered environment.
